Optimizing the Nonprofit Form 990 (Online)
Optimizing the Nonprofit Form 990
For many Nonprofits and CPA’s, the Form 990 is an annual reporting form that nonprofit organizations must file with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) only to keep their status. However, the document that is open to public inspection and found on three different internet sites once filed with the IRS should serve as a tool for enhancing the positive perception of the Nonprofit organization. The 990 should reflect the Nonprofit’s financial and operational transparency, accountability and demonstrate their impact. By optimizing the Form 990, nonprofit organizations can increase brand awareness and generate positive perceptions, which in turn can lead to increased donations.
