How to be an Effective Board Member

Many of you serve on the boards of non-profits and have requested adequate training. You want to serve well, but often don’t know exactly what is needed and expected of you. Attend this session and learn how to be a great board member. What you will learn: • why nonprofit boards exist (why not just hire good staff and let them do everything?) • the ten basic responsibilities of nonprofit boards • the difference in the roles of board and staff • the legal aspects of board service • the role of board members in fundraising.
