Are you a business owner or involved in a nonprofit such as a board member or executive? Are you wanting to know more about how to understand the finances of a nonprofit? Join us in this class as we talk about the basic financial statements of a nonprofit and explain the art of financially telling the nonprofit story to interested parties. We will talk about the various forms of financial reporting and what are the significant elements of the basic financial reports. Learn how financial reporting can be different for different audiences and users of the financial information such as staff, funders, donors, and the IRS. We will discuss some key components of the financial data that could reveal important and often missed facts about the health of the organization. You will also learn about the importance of the nonprofit tax return and what are the key compliance considerations to know. We will show you how to sift through the technical IRS jargon to identify the key components that will help you to read and interpret Form 990. Participants will gain an understanding of the broader financial realm of nonprofit organizations.
