Marketing Made Simple: A Hands-On Workshop for Small Business Owners (Core) - Seated
Marketing can feel overwhelming when you’re running a small business — but it doesn’t have to be. In this two-hour workshop, Julie Stevens, owner of The Biz Spa, will guide you through the essentials of marketing in a way that’s clear, practical, and easy to apply right away. We’ll start by breaking down what marketing really is (spoiler: it’s more than just posting on Facebook!) and cover the six key areas every business needs to address to build a solid marketing foundation. You’ll get real-world insights into branding, messaging, websites, SEO, print materials, and social media. You’ll also participate in an interactive exercise to create your own core marketing message — including your elevator pitch, unique value proposition, and mission statement. With the help of simple AI tools like ChatGPT, you’ll see how to refine your message into clear, effective language you can use on your website, social media, and beyond. Whether you're just starting or looking to strengthen your marketing muscles, this workshop is designed to leave you feeling inspired and confident to take the next steps to level up your business. Notice: This course meets the "Marketing Your Business" requirement of the Small Business Startup Certification. The Small Business Startup Certification is a non-curriculum certificate program. Completion of this program does not contribute toward a Stanly Community College degree or certificate and is not recorded on a college transcript. All seven core classes must be attended in order to submit an application for your certificate. Classes taken prior to January 1st, 2025 will not be counted toward certification.
