Negocio Desde Cero: Basic Business Foundations
This course fills an important need by providing Spanish-speaking adults with accessible, practical business education in their native language while helping them navigate English-language business systems in North Carolina. Negocio Desde Cero: Basic Business Foundations is an 8-week introductory entrepreneurship course designed for Spanish-speaking adults interested in starting a business. Offered by the Small Business Center at Mitchell Community College, this bilingual program provides participants with the foundational knowledge needed to transform an idea into a viable business opportunity. Through interactive workshops, hands-on activities, and guided planning exercises, participants will learn how to identify customers, test business ideas, create simple business plans, understand budgeting and cash flow, develop marketing strategies, and navigate the legal requirements of operating a business in North Carolina. The course also introduces participants to valuable local resources, including the Small Business Center, SCORE, SBA programs, and community lending organizations. By the end of the program, participants will have developed a one-page business plan, practiced presenting their ideas through a professional pitch, and created a personalized action plan to guide their next steps. Whether launching a new venture or expanding a side business, learners will leave with greater confidence, practical tools, and a clear path forward. Format: 8 weeks, 2 sessions (60 minutes each) each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Instruction is delivered in Spanish with key English business terminology incorporated to help participants confidently interact with financial institutions, government agencies, and business service providers.
