How to Start Your Aquaculture Business Workshop - at Harbor District Market
Explore the world of aquaculture entrepreneurship with the expert-led workshop! This workshop will introduce you to the diverse opportunities in food fish, ornamental, and shellfish aquaculture. Hear from industry experts on the key aspects of starting and running an aquaculture business, including regulations, permits, and business support resources. This workshop wraps with a pitch contest for Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington county residents. A winner will receive $1500 in funds to start or expand their outdoor business. Lunch is included.
Speaker(s): Bryan Snyder – Aquaculture instructor with 5 years of curriculum development & teaching experience & 10 years of experience in commercial shellfish and finfish production. He also teaches the Shellfish Academy at Carteret Community College. Todd Gardner – Aquaculture instructor with 20 years of teaching experience & over 30 years of fish culture experience. Todd manages Biota NC, a commercial marine ornamental hatchery. Dave Cerino – Department Chair of the Aquaculture Technology Department at Carteret Community College. The primary focus of David Cerino’s work is on education, training, & workforce development. Carteret Community College in Morehead City, NC, carries out applied research to improve aquaculture productivity & sustainability. Collaboration with industry, academic partners, regulators, & NGOs offers opportunities for students to engage in experiential learning & support industry growth. Lavonda Daniels- Lavonda is VP of Array CDC with a background in finance, business & education.
