The Cooperative Business Model
Carolina Common Enterprise presents an introduction to the cooperative business model and how co-ops create benefit in communities, large and small, rural and urban.
This interactive, lunch-and-learn program will explain cooperative enterprises in detail. Co-ops operate in many different industries, all for the benefit of their members instead of generating profits for distant investors.
Presenters will shape the content of the session to meet the needs of participants, including:
- How a co-op can address unmet community needs.
- The necessary steps toward organizing a co-op.
- The challenges and occasional drawbacks of cooperatives.
- Creating a shared vision for a community-based enterprise.
- Financial and legal resources for cooperatives.
Speaker(s): Thomas Beckett of Carolina Common Enterprise
Co-Sponsor(s): Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce
