However, before the writing process starts, fundamental knowledge about grants is important. This module will identify grant categories, relevant grant opportunities, and specific terminology. Clarification is provided about the purposes of a "grant" and why funders provide grants. Participants will acquire skills in understanding the fundamental components of proposal (grant) writing, with an emphasis on mission, vision, and measurable outcomes. Tips will be provided regarding preparation, research, and the importance of relationship (communication) building during the grant process-including strategies for grant submission follow up. Key elements addressed also include examining a grant proposal sample and data base for researching funding opportunities.
