Each type of Intellectual Property has applications in specific circumstances. Sometimes a patent is appropriate for inventions, methods, and designs. A federal trademark registration might be useful in some situations, or a copyright may very well be needed in others. It is important that an entrepreneur understands the differences and protections offered by each of these forms of Intellectual Property.
