Impact the AREA: Agricultural Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Adaptability
The Impact the AREA series is designed to help farmers increase profitability by exploring new and innovative revenue streams beyond traditional practices. Each session highlights a successful farm or agri-business model, giving participants a firsthand look at strategies that generate additional income whether through regenerative practices, Agri-tourism, direct-to-consumer sales, or stronger financial management. Through farm tours, interactive presentations, and networking with fellow farmers, the Siler City Area Chamber, and the Chatham SBC, participants will gain practical tools to diversify their operations, strengthen their bottom line, and adapt for long-term resilience. Program Schedule: • Sept. 18 | Harris Homeplace Farm (4–6 PM) Regenerative Farming Practices & Profitability – Discover how Harris Homeplace Farm incorporates regenerative practices that improve soil health while adding new streams of income. Farm tour included. • Sept. 25 | Millstone Creek Orchards (4–6 PM) Agri-Tourism for Revenue Growth – Learn how Millstone Creek Orchards has successfully expanded into Agri-tourism. Gain insights on how you can attract visitors, create experiences, and diversify farm income. Farm tour included. • Oct. 9 | CCCC Pittsboro Student Farm (4–6 PM) Selling at Farmers’ Markets – Tour the student farm and learn strategies for maximizing market sales through succession planting, diverse crop planning, and scaling production to meet consumer demand. • Oct. 15 | CCCC Siler City (4–6 PM) Financial Management & Bookkeeping for Agri-Businesses – Build confidence with your numbers. Learn how to track income and expenses, manage cash flow, and read financial reports to make smarter business decisions.
