The objective of the Small Business Center Network (SBCN) is to increase the success rate and the number of viable small businesses in North Carolina by providing high quality, readily accessible assistance to prospective and existing small business owners which will lead to job creation and retention. Our Small Business Center is here to assist you by offering one-on-one confidential business counseling plus workshops and seminars on a variety of business topics. We are a community-based provider of education and training, counseling, networking and referrals. All of our services are free! Non-Profit organizations must continually look for new funding sources and ways to support their services and mission. Fundraising is a needed skill for many non-profits as support from traditional funding shrinks and organizations search for more diversified revenue streams. This workshop reviews the primary elements of fundraising, compares the types of fundraising to an organization’s needs, and provides best practices. Participants evaluate their organization’s needs and determine where fundraising events can supplement their operations, what potential new diversified streams they could utilize and what roles staff, volunteer and board can/should play in development work.

This 3 hour seminar reviews the questions non-profits need to answer prior to searching and applying for grant funds, outlines the 7 basic elements of most proposals, and shows participants how to match their needs to funder priorities. Participants focus on the major questions that need to be answered prior to a grant application and incorporating these answers into research and ultimately a competitive proposal.
