Welcome to the Small Business Center (SBC) located at Blue Ridge Community College, part of the Small Business Center Network (SBCN). Blue Ridge Community College Campuses and the SBC are located in Flat Rock and Brevard, North Carolina.
  
SBCN is comprised of 58 Small Business Centers throughout North Carolina, that supports the development of new businesses and the growth of existing businesses by being a community-based provider of local training, counseling, and resource information.

Local SBC training, confidential counseling, and resource information is offered at no cost due to funding from the State of North Carolina.
Services provided by the Small Business Center can be customized to suit your specific business needs. 

Each week we offer a program on starting and growing a business to answer all your question about requirements and resources offered  through the federal, state, region, county, and local cities.

How Your Disorganization is Stealing Your Time, Your Attention and Health Time: 2:00am-5:00pm Location: Blue Ridge Community College Patton Building Room 201 Date: April 26, 2017 Cost: No charge due to sponsor support Life doesn't have to be a hamster wheel of chaos, clutter, and filling every minute of every day with activities. It's time to stop letting your disorganization steal your time, attention, and health. In this workshop, we'll talk about the mindset that leads us down the path of chaos. You'll learn a new mindset for "getting organized" as well as plenty of tips and tricks. This class is most appropriate for small business owners, those who work from home, and people thinking about starting a business. The book is included in the program (a $9.97 value).

Ponder This: How to use questions to discover deeper answers in business (and life) Date: Thursday, June 29 Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Location: Blue Ridge Community College Flat Rock, NC Building: Continuing Education Room: 122 Cost: No charge due to sponsor support Ponder This: How to use questions to discover deeper answers in business (and life) In a standard business class, we start with a problem and ask questions to come up with solutions. In this course, we'll use a new book,Ponder This: How Everday Experiences Deliver Unexpected Insights in Business and Life to answer questions we might not even know to ask. Using a round-robin format, we'll let questions lead us through an informal yet very impactful conversation on business ownership, life leadership, organization, productivity, time management, happiness, work/life balance, transformation, and more. By the end of class, based on the questions and participant's individual answers, each participant will the opportunity to put together a mini-action plan on one or more of the issues that came to light during the discussions (because information without action can lead to frustration). A copy of the book by the same name is included with this class (a $14.95 value).

Program: Getting Your Book into the World Date: Wednesdays, May 3 and May 17, 2017 Location: Blue Ridge Community College Flat Rock, NC Building: Continuing Education Room: 122 Time: 2:00-5:00pm Cost: No charge due to sponsor support Getting Your Book into the world: 6-hour class (Two parts: 3 hours and 3 hours) Wednesday, May 3, 2 - 5pm AND Wednesday, May 17, 2 - 5 pm. DETAILS: In the first of this two-part class, participants will learn about brainstorming ideas, identifying narrative archs and pinpointing "lessons learned" that contain the kernels of wisdom and story worthy of becoming a book. For the second of two sessions, we'll review the "nuts and bolts of publishing" which include how to get your book out into the world through self-publishing and/or traditional publishing. Participants will learn about the benefits and pitfalls of each.

Program: Social Media Boot Camp Part A Date: Wednesday, May 24, 2017 Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm Location: BRCC Flat Rock Campus Building: Technology and Education Development Center Room 302 Cost: No charge due to support from the State of North Carolina and BRCC Small Business Center to assist entrepreneurs. Class Size Limited Class Requirement: No Business Facebook Page or a newly created Business Facebook Page and you have questions on how to use it. Social Media FaceBook Boot Camp Part A: The goal of this workshop is to define, and explain how to setup and use a Business Facebook Page. The purpose is to give small business owners the chance to learn the basic building blocks for launching, running, and a successful Business Facebook Page. Will be in computer lab working on your Facebook Page.

Program: Social Media FaceBook Boot Camp Part B Date: Thursday, May 25, 2017 Time: 12:30-4:30pm Location: BRCC Flat Rock Campus Building: Technology Education Development Building Room: 302 Cost: No charge due to support from the State of North Carolina and BRCC Small Business Center to assist entrepreneurs. Class Size Limited Class Requirement: Must take Social Media Boot Camp Part A or have an existing Business Facebook Page and familiar with posting Social Media FaceBook Boot Camp Part B: The goal of this workshop is to define, and explain how to setup a 2017 Business Facebook Page Campaign. The purpose is to give small business owners the chance to learn strategies to create, schedule and measure posts to their online community. Will be creating and scheduling posts in the computer lab.

HP LIFE offers participants a path to realizing their business dreams. The NC Small Business Center Network, in partnership with the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), is pleased to offer this innovative program to NC entrepreneurs and small business owners free of charge! This program is self-paced, making it possible for more aspiring entrepreneurs to participate. All you have to do is register to start.
