Welcome to the Small Business Center (SBC) located at Blue Ridge Community College, part of the Small Business Center Network (SBCN). Blue Ridge Community College Campuses and the SBC are located in Flat Rock and Brevard, North Carolina.
  
SBCN is comprised of 58 Small Business Centers throughout North Carolina, that supports the development of new businesses and the growth of existing businesses by being a community-based provider of local training, counseling, and resource information.

Local SBC training, confidential counseling, and resource information is offered at no cost due to funding from the State of North Carolina.
Services provided by the Small Business Center can be customized to suit your specific business needs. 

Each week we offer a program on starting and growing a business to answer all your question about requirements and resources offered  through the federal, state, region, county, and local cities.

How to Start a Business and Form an LLC Location: BRCC Henderson County Campus - Flat Rock Date: December 12, 2017 Time: 1:00-5:00pm Building: Continuing Education Building Room: 122 Cost: Program is offered at no charge, due to sponsor support, from the State of North Carolina and Blue Ridge Community College Small Business Center. 1:00-5:00pm - Designed for pre-start and start-up business owners that want to learn more about what it takes to start a for-profit organization using the popular Limited Liability Company (LLC) form of business. Topics will include: how to create an operating agreement, how major business decisions are made and what fees and licenses are required. You’ll also learn how to choose a unique name that meets state requirements.

Description In this day, create a business plan. A business plan can be the most important tool a small business owner has. Learn how to turn your ideas into a solid plan for financing and long-term success. This seminar teaches you the important components of a business plan and helps you lay the foundation for a winning plan. Find out how marketing, operations, and finance are inter-related. Discover how a business plan is used by potential lenders, the dos and don’ts of writing a plan and steps for making the process easy. This seminar is designed for pre-start, start-up and existing business owners that want to create a business plan for 2018 to manage their business or access money through through local microloan organizations, SBA, traditional banks, angel investing, bootstrapping, crowd funding, etc. Use your plan to submit to the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce Business Plan Competition.

The seminar also introduces the three most important financial reports: cash flow, profit & loss and balance sheet statement, and discusses how business owners use them to make the best-informed business decisions.

Class Description: Having a web presence is critical for any business. Learn how to build your business’ web platform with WordPress, one of the most popular website publishing platforms on the open source market. This course will offer a thorough overview of the background, install process, setup, and build out process of a WordPress website. Topics covered will be: Initial setup, inserting content, selecting the correct template, selecting the correct plugins, optimization, and security. Wordpress experience required for this class. This class is great for intermediate to advanced WordPress users. Laptop recommended but not required.

It will cover the skills and requirements for selling, hot sellers, the best kinds of auctions for a new seller, the fees involved, shipping, auction strategy, and getting paid via Paypal. Information will be provided for in-home, hands-on courses which will walk a student through the entire process from setting-up an Ebay site, creating an auction template, taking quality photos, tracking an item after it sells and more. By the end of the course, each student will actually have listed at least one item for auction.
