Success Story - Happy Tails Pet Salon, LLC
Danielle Myers has always had a passion for dog grooming, a skill she honed over 15 years while balancing jobs in healthcare, higher education, and senior living—but it wasn’t until a serious medical leave that the idea of running her own business began to take shape. Encouraged by her husband and driven by her desire to do things differently, Danielle officially formed Happy Tails Pet Salon, LLC in May 2025. Unlike many salons that prioritize speed, she focuses on the comfort and emotional well-being of each dog, taking time for play breaks, belly rubs, and individualized care that helps even the most fearful dogs feel safe and confident. Her approach has helped her build strong, trusting relationships with both dogs and their owners, turning every appointment into a positive experience.
When she decided to launch her business, Danielle turned to Cape Fear Community College’s Small Business Center for guidance. With support from Director Jerry Coleman, she navigated the complexities of forming an LLC, developed organizational systems, and gained confidence in key areas like pricing and business boundaries. Daniels credits this support with calming her entrepreneurial anxieties and helping her think more intentionally about running her business. Looking ahead, she plans to expand with a mobile grooming unit and eventually hire and train another groomer in her compassionate style. For Danielle, the encouragement from someone who believed in her vision “meant everything.”

It’s hard when you’ve got a thousand things that all feel important. He reassured me that every business owner struggles with that balance.”
