Jason and Dana Harrill had a dream to open a home décor/custom furniture store. Both were working full time jobs in 2019, when an opportunity presented itself. A building in downtown Forest City became vacant and they made a leap of faith to open Harrill & Harrill Design Co. They saw a need for upscale home décor and custom furniture.

Jason and Dana came up with a loose plan or idea but weren't quite sure of the process of starting a business. A friend had advised them to contact the Small Business Center at Isothermal Community College. They contacted the Director of the Center and met with her right away. She went over their plan and helped guide them through the process. Harrill & Harrill Design Co. opened in May, 2019.

Ten months after opening, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. During this time, Jason and Dana utilized many seminars that the Small Business Center offered. Some of these seminars helped find new ways of doing business. They adapted and successfully navigated through 2 years of COVID-related small business issues.

Their business is thriving in 2023, and they are looking for ways to expand.
“We feel that the SBC is a huge asset to anyone who is thinking of starting a business. The free resources that they offer help individuals smoothly transition from idea to business ownership.”
