Government Procurement & NC Military Business Center

Under the auspices of the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), business development specialists who specialize in assisting firms in their pursuit of federal Government prime contracts and subcontracts are available across the state.

The NCMBC is a business development organization and a collaborative effort between North Carolina business and the North Carolina Community College System. Funded in 2004 by the North Carolina General Assembly and opened in 2005, the NCMBC operates under the supervision of Fayetteville Technical Community College and has regular offices at eight Community Colleges across the state including the following:

•Central Piedmont Community College

•Coastal Carolina Community College

•Craven Community College

•Durham Technical Community College

•Fayetteville Technical Community College

•Guilford Technical Community College

•Sandhills Community College

•Wayne Community College

Part time offices are staffed regularly or on demand at:

•Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College

•Brunswick Community College

•Roanoke-Chowan Community College

The mission of the Military Business Center is to leverage military and other federal business opportunities for economic development and quality of life in North Carolina. Organizational goals are:

•Contracts - To increase military and federal business for existing North Carolina companies

•Employment - To integrate transitioning military personnel and family members into the workforce

•Recruitment - To support recruitment and development of defense-related businesses in North Carolina

The NCMBC is “opportunity oriented”. NCMBC business development specialists identify, evaluate and source future and current federal prime contract and subcontract opportunities in the attempt to match them to capable North Carolina firms.

Staff members are available to help explain the federal acquisition process and federal solicitations; provide advice about how to prepare quotes, bids and proposals; and review and edit proposals. They can also help firms identify teaming partners.

The NCMBC also manages the state’s official web-based matching service for North Carolina firms at www.MatchForce.org. This system (which is free to all users) matches federal contracting opportunities to registered firms as well as job opportunities posted by registered businesses to military and other job applicants across the state.
