Session Description: Are you starting a new business and want to make sure you have a business model before trying to create a business plan? Do you have an existing business but need to focus on improving efficiency and overall business model design? This workshop is a must attend for every entrepreneur, present and future. In this workshop, the Lean Canvas Business Model methodology and tool will help you create an effective business model. Taking the traditional route of first writing a business plan takes an enormous amount of time. It may take several months to develop the perfect business plan. At some point in time, the majority of businesses eventually revise, perform major overhauls, or throw out their initial plans altogether. This potentially wasted effort can be avoided by utilizing the Lean Canvas Business Model. About the Presenter: Richard Moore currently serves as a consultant and business service advisor with the Carolina Small Business Development Fund (CSBDF). In this role, he provides technical assistance and business coaching to owners of small businesses which includes existing businesses and start-ups. He also conducts workshops on various subject matter such as developing an effective business model, business planning, financial management, risk management, and access to capital. He provides assistance for various strategic initiatives of CSBDF as needed. Prior to his work with CSBDF, Richard had formed R.B. Moore Solutions, LLC., a consulting firm, specializing in providing effective management consulting, business solutions, and other services to both for profit and non-profit businesses and organizations. In addition, Richard has served for over thirty-two years in various leadership, intrapreneurship, and management positions in Lenovo and IBM. During the course of his career, he received numerous awards and recognition at the corporate, business unit, and functional levels due to many achievements which had positive impacts on profitability, productivity, and quality. Richard has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University.
