Nothing beats locally brewed for a unique flavorful concoction and the thirst is still alive! The number of craft breweries in North Carolina has grown from 45 in 2010 to more than 200 today. It is projected that 50 breweries will open in 2017 and beyond. Derek Allen leads the Alcoholic Beverage Law, Real Estate Development, Zoning and Land Use practices at Ward and Smith, P.A., Asheville, NC. He has extensive experience with craft breweries ranging from small startups to those with national distribution. His practice includes representation of craft breweries, wineries, and distilleries in a wide range of permitting, regulatory, and trade issues. Derek is an Associate Member of the Brewers Association. He routinely appears in front of city and county governmental bodies and has been rated by his peers as being "preeminent" in his fields of law.
