Understanding Local and Federal Government Certification and How They Can Help Grow Your Business: Presented by Sharon Harvey from the US Small Business Administration and Pam Racer from the North Carolina Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) Why Would You Want the Federal Government as Your Customer? The U.S. government is the world’s largest buyer of products and services. Government purchases total over $500 billion a year. Contracting $300+ billion. Federal agencies are required to establish small business contracting goals. Introduction to Government Contracting and Marketing You will be introduced to the North Carolina PTAC and the resources available to help your company succeed in local, state, and federal contracting. We will cover the basics of government contracting, including the basic steps of government contracting, basics of contracting with the State of North Carolina, tips for marketing to the state and federal government, locating bids and making contacts, tips for writing an effective government proposal, and more. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
