Topic: Start-up Assistance

Pitt Community College will be collaborating with the North Carolina Growing Together Project/Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension service to provide a training on the business of organic farm operations. The training will teach in-depth what it means for a farm to be organically certified, how to become organically certified, how to maintain organic certification, business planning for organic farm operations, record keeping, organic product pricing, and organic product marketing. This class is one of the five classes being taught. Each session must be registered for separately, but it is strongly recommended to register and attend all five classes. Students who complete all five sessions will have access to an on-farm organic certification consultation with CEFS Farming Systems Specialist, Melissa Bell. This class is tailored for farmers with existing farm operations who have an interest in becoming organically certified, but open to anyone interested in the subject.
