Learn how to turn your ideas into a solid plan for financing and long-term success. This seminar teaches you the important components of a business plan and helps you lay the foundation for a winning plan. Find out how marketing, operations, and finance are interrelated. Discover how a business plan is used by potential lenders, the dos and don'ts of writing a plan and steps for making the process easy. This seminar is designed for new and established childcare business owners. Attendees are expected to gain a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts of business planning to include: * Market identification * Market and industry research * Marketing plan development * Basic operations plan * Management and personnel plan * Cash flow projections and basic financial statements * Financial ratios

Speaker(s): Jess McLamb is founder and president of Roper Bookkeeping an accounting and consulting company based in Raleigh for more than 27 years. Jess has served as a business facilitator for the North Carolina Small Business Center Network for more than 20 years delivering programs on business planning, bookkeeping and QuickBooks®. She has provided services onsite and virtually for small businesses across the country. Prior to forming Roper, McLamb was a senior officer in the financial services industry for close to 20 years. She founded the Wake County Women Business Owners' Network in 1994, and is past president and treasurer of the Greater Raleigh Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). McLamb graduated from East Carolina University with a BA in Math and Psychology. She has completed numerous postgraduate classes at NC State University, as well as attended the BAI School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin for three summers.
