Learn what it means to have another company host your website, what type of websites can be used for business, and what you need to know when it comes to registration, cyber-security, and how email is involved in your process. During the course we will discuss how to create a simple website manageable by the owner/employee. Session One (March 14th, 2017, 6PM-8PM): In this class we will take a business approach to setting up a website. With consideration to size, budget, and a timeline attendees can develop a baseline perspective on how to prioritize setting up their website. Some of the topics covered are as follows: * What kind of websites are there? (Carts, Blogs, DYI) * What should I consider when creating my website/domain name? * Where does a website exists & how can I get my email from the website? Session Two (March 21st, 2017, 6PM-8PM): There are many website builders available online. In session two we will look at what you need to know to find the best host for your website and the best website builder. * What are the Pros and Cons of free website builders? * Wordpress Basics * Open Cart Basics * cPanel Basics Session Three (March 28th, 2017, 6PM-8PM): During this session, attendees will explore adding embedded video to their site and linking social media to their site as well. This class is designed to demonstrate best practices for website deployment. We will also take a look at the advantages of Search Engine Optimization. * Using Youtube to embed a video * Sharing and using social media * Search engine optimization
