The Effects of Identity Theft on Small Business and How to Counter Them

Identity theft costs businesses when the owner or employees deal with ID theft including lost productivity, wasted resources and effort and even potential increases in health insurance costs to the company. In this workshop we talk about the financial risks of ID theft and data breaches to small businesses. Some issues can be even more critical to small business owners due to the cost to correct lost or compromised data and customer confidence. We will discuss the five types of identity theft resulting from breaches and your actions to minimize and deal with each. Small business owners also need to be aware of existing laws and regulations pertaining to their responsibility to protect customer and employee information. It seems that we hear about sensitive data being lost or stolen almost every week. As a small business owner you work too hard to build your business so come learn some tips on how to reduce the risk of you or your business being a victim of identity theft.
