How To Start a Non-Profit

This course focuses on the first steps in starting a nonprofit, including filing the necessary paperwork with the State of North Carolina (Articles of Incorporation) and the Internal Revenue Service (501c3- form 1023). We will discuss the importance of opening up a bank account and what type of bank accounts to open to avoid high bank fees. In this session we will also review the five major areas: starting with an idea, writing a solid business plan, financing, legal structure and joining a business incubator.
