Grants are awarded to implement sound, practical ideas that meet needs, solve problems, or improve conditions for groups of individuals or a community. Successful entrepreneurs in non-profit or for-profit sectors are able to identify problems, propose Feasible solutions, and convince funders to invest in their ideas. In This three-hour workshop, Michele Oros will provide hands-on experience researching and writing needs assessments; designing projects with concrete, measurable objectives; and creating justifiable budgets. Ms. Oros has previously taught for BCCC’s SBC. This workshop is designed for grant seekers who are ready to begin putting their ideas into words.

Speaker(s): Michele Oros Michele has previously taught with BCCC’s SBC. She was born in Connecticut and moved to Boone, NC in 1976 where she attended and graduated from Appalachian state university (BA in media studies and MA in Library/media studies). Michele moved to eastern NC in1987 and earned an ed.s. in supervision/administration (curriculum instructional specialist) from east Carolina university in 1990. She relocated to Beaufort county in1999, where she worked as a school librarian between 1999 and 2003. She actively and successfully sought grant opportunities for Beaufort County Schools between 2003 and 2017 and is now sharing her skills with a school district in South Carolina, with plans to retire to her home in Washington, NC. Michele is a founding member of literacy volunteers of Beaufort County. Her daughter earned a Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill and her two sons graduated with bachelor’s degrees from East Carolina University.
