Wed 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Topic: Business Basics

There are several types of contracts used in business including those for services rendered, services acquired such as for independent contractors, direct hiring of employees, among others. In the successful operation of a business, contracts have become a necessary tool to ensure the terms of the negotiation are known up front along with specific information such as clearly identifying the parties, their responsibilities, payment terms, and consequences for terms agreed to but not met by one or more parties. Other areas that ensure a contract has even been agreed to include establishing agreement between the parties such that offer and acceptance has occurred, legal ability of the parties to contract, contracting for a legal purpose, valid consideration, adequacy of the consideration, ability of the parties to contract, and so on. During this meeting we will discuss what makes a contract, what breaks a contract, and the areas you should be concerned with when contracting. We will discuss specific types of contracts you will encounter in your business dealings or that you should consider using in your business process.
