Topic: Business Basics

What is the difference between the starving artist & the artist that thrives at selling their artwork? Artwork is anything you create - painting, pottery, jewelry, crafts, photography and more. Often the difference is not in the quality of their work but in how the artist plans & runs his or her business. Being an entrepreneur is at the heart of starting & successfully operating any small business; it is especially vital for commercializing artwork. The Work of Art seminar is designed to teach business skills to artists in all disciplines. This six hour seminar covers career planning, time management, marketing, the power & importance of storytelling, social media & SEO, pricing models, financial accounting, business model viability & record keeping. It will also prepare the artist to begin the process of building the ever important business plan. Although it's trite ... it's also true ... not having a viable business plan is essentially planning to fail. The seminar is being taught by Lee Woodard. He is an artist, an entrepreneur & the Southeast Regional Director of the NC Small Business Center Network.
